Dogwood 52 Photo Challenge:
This is my first photo challenge. If I post something incorrectly, please let me know.
My background: I was a photographer living in Santa Fe, NM, when I was diagnosed with an inoperable, very aggressive, malignant brain tumor. The steroids and meds didn’t work. It came to the point of dying or having it removed, causing brain damage. Spoiler Alert: I made it through emergency surgery.
I couldn’t walk, talk, write, read, or even remember how to use a fork, let alone a camera. At one point I went blind. When I was done with rehab and endless chemo, I bought a simple camera with few buttons to restart my photography. It’s a very, very rare cancer so we moved to the Boston area for better medical care and I’m now in remission.
With this challenge I hope to rebuild everything I’ve forgotten, but numbers still confuse me. I will try to keep up with the schedule but my meds have horrible side effects so I’ll do what I can.
For my self-portrait, I have my trusty Nikon, at the beach, which provides calmness when I feel overwhelmed, and Maui, my little buddy, who never left my side.
Suggestions or advice is much appreciated. Thanks to the organizers and fellow photographers!
